Front Yard Forager: Identifying, Collecting & Cooking the 30 Common Urban Weeds

info & tickets here:

+ Bloedel Reserve had other cool events but I didn't want to post all of them here. Browse through to that link above.

Lecture/Book Reading: The Front Yard Forager: Identifying, Collecting, and Cooking the 30 Most Common Urban Weeds
Seattle-based author Melany Vorass-Herrera will discuss her book on foraging techniques. Vorass-Herrera takes everyday weeds–those that grow in our yards, parking lots and back alleys-and creates nutritious and delicious recipes, such as Dandelion Flower Fritters and Cream of Stinging Nettle Soup. Her lecture will teach you how to forage for those “trashy” plants and turn them into culinary delights!

Self-Care Working Group

This will be a paid event ($20) to implement a consulting service in a group setting. Outstanding contributions from attendees will be appreciated with a free pass to a subsequent meeting. Practitioners, too. Topics will include lifestyle, nutrition, supplements, diet, sleep, quantified-self technology, self-empowerment and any topic from any of my past Dialog Dinners hosted by Joni Sare, or blogs from www.Project Wellbeing.com.

Three dates per month: the second Monday, the third Sundayand/or the fourth Thursday. Pick one that is most convenient, or attend all three. The Sunday is for longer time and easier transportation. I hope this is flexible enough that at least one date will work for you. If none of these work, please let me know.

This is intended to be a working group, where progress over time is part of the process.

To ensure a safe environment, all participants will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement that binds them against discussing any other person's health issues and meeting comments.

There is no requirement for implementation. You can sit and listen for informational purposes only, if that is what you wish.

If you do not know me and would like a general introduction, watch “Nutrients for Better Mental Performance” on the Google TechTalk Channel on YouTube. Or just type “Steve Fowkes” at the YouTube prompt and select something else.

Spiritual Health

For those interested in deepening their connection between health and spirituality. This meeting will be held on the second Sunday of each month.

Suggestions of topics (you determine what gets discussed):

The mind-brain-body connection. How does the mind affect the body? And how does the body affect the mind?

Personal Integrity. How can we create harmony between the many levels of self? How can we balance self-actualization and assertiveness with awe and self transcendence? Do we differ in how we give gifts and receive gifts?

Psychological typing. Can we become happier, more fulfilled and more effective by our understanding of psychological typing systems like the Myers-Briggs analysis, the Enneagram system or the Luscher color test?

Steven Fowkes will be your host for this event.

No charge, but a love offering will be much appreciated.

GOOD TO KNOW

Regarding Bookings…

Bookings must be purchased individually. If you'd like to share a room with someone you know, please have the 2nd person complete a booking using their account. We will reach out following each booking to determine room preference.

Regarding Palazzo Mannocchi…

The castle (Palazzo Mannocchi) is not a hotel. It is a residence owned by a local family that is opening it to our group. Air conditioning and daily maid service are unavailable. However, the property stays relatively cool and we expect mild temperatures during the first week of June. There are 32 total bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, which means bathrooms will be shared.

Nevertheless, be prepared for an amazing week with fellow paleo enthusiasts. We trust that you will walk away with from this trip with refreshing insights and new life-long friends. We're thrilled to have you join us and we can't wait to share this experience with you!

Regarding Your Arrival in Rome…

Please book your flights so that you arrive (at the lastest) by Sunday Morning in Rome (FCO). We will have a private departure leaving downtown Rome at 2:30PM. We are also negotiating rates with a hotel, should you chooose to arrive Friday or Saturday in Rome. Stay tuned for updates.
