For those you who can't wait until September here's good news. New 2014 edition of the Washington Artisan Cheese Map will be available at cheese shops and specialty food stores near you starting in June.

This free guide contains a Washington cheesemaker directory, a list of retailers who regularly carry Washington cheeses and other useful cheese information. This year's directory lists a whopping 58 Washington cheesemakers, up from 47 in 2013. The directory offers detailed information for each cheesemaker including the milk type (cow, goat, sheep or a combination), operation type (production only, retail shop on site or visits by appointment only), and whether it makes farmstead cheeses (made with milk from its own animals raised on the farm) or offer classes.

The map will be also available for download at www.washingtonartisancheese.com in June.

The Benefits of Cod Liver Oil

From Meetup Group: Houston Real Food Nutrition

We will discuss the benefits of cod liver oil and show Dr. Chris Masterjohn's presentation, Cod Liver Oil, Our Number One Superfood, which he gave at the March 2014 Houston Regional Wise Traditions Conference.

After the presentation and discussion, we will have a drawing for Green Pasture products including Blue Ice fermented cod liver oil, Blue Ice high vitamin butter oil, infused coconut oil, and flavored blends. There are 15 items to be given away. The products were used for sampling at the conference and cannot be sold, but very little of each one has been used. Green Pasture donated the samples to our chapter for the benefit of our members.
We plan to have more meetings at this location and will begin adding them to the schedule soon. Watch for new topics! Your suggestions for discussion subjects are also welcome.
