Kimchi is a traditional Korean fermented vegetable dish that has been loved by generations for its crunchy texture, bold flavors, and endless variety. Kimchi is also gaining popularity for its reputation as a living superfood and is an excellent source of probiotics and raw nutrients. Ellen White, founder of Ellen’s Kimchi, is a Korean native who first learned how to make Kimchi from her grandmother as a young child living in Seoul.
Ellen will share her knowledge about the cultural traditions of Kimchi making and the benefits of the serving this healthy dish at home. She will also showcase places where you can locate seasonal ingredients, popular recipe variations, and timesaving tips. Students will chop, blend, spice, and create their own handmade jar of Kimchi made to personal taste. You will learn how to naturally ferment your Kimchi at room temperature, best storing techniques, and the optimal time to open and enjoy your handmade superfood. Fortunately there's no rush to finish it off, because like wine and cheese, Kimchi's flavor only deepens with age.
