Now we’re coming into summer, it’s a great time to enjoy an ice cold Paleo Green Smoothie. Instead of relying on fruit, it’s far better to make green smoothies using vegetables.

Green smoothies are a delicious and refreshing way to sneak some extra nutrients into your diet without relying heavily on sugary fruits. Almond butter and coconut milk are great ways to add in some good fat, which helps keep you full and satisfied. These ingredients also provide a creamy texture and a rich flavour, making your smoothie more enjoyable.

  • Blender

  • 1 Banana Frozen
  • 8 Strawberries Frozen
  • 30 g Almond butter
  • 250 ml Coconut milk
  • 250 g Spinach

  • First, freeze a (peeled) banana and some strawberries overnight in the freezer.
  • Next, put the bananas, strawberries, almond butter, and coconut milk in the blender.
  • Then, fill the rest of the blender with spinach (kale would also work well, if you can get hold of it!).
  • Finally, blend until smooth, and enjoy!

This green smoothie is not only packed with vitamins and minerals from the spinach, but it also provides a balanced blend of healthy fats and natural sweetness from the fruits. The frozen banana and strawberries add a refreshing chill, perfect for a hot summer day. The almond butter contributes protein and a creamy texture, while the coconut milk adds a rich and tropical flavour.

Green smoothies are versatile and can be customized to suit your taste preferences and dietary needs. You can experiment with different greens such as kale or Swiss chard, and add other nutritious ingredients like chia seeds or flaxseeds for an extra boost of omega-3 fatty acids.

Tips for Making the Perfect Green Smoothie:

  • Blend the greens first: If you have a less powerful blender, blend the spinach and coconut milk together first to ensure the greens are well incorporated before adding the other ingredients.
  • Adjust sweetness: If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, you can add a small amount of honey or a few more strawberries.
  • Add protein: For a post-workout smoothie, consider adding a scoop of your favourite protein powder to increase the protein content.
