Lift For Life Gym CrossFit Outing with Paleo Potluck

Hello primal geeks,

This weekend, Saturday May 11, from 1 pm to 3 pm I (Ryan Kennedy) will be hosting some of the kids from Lift For Life Gym for a CrossFit class outing. I am reaching out to you all because I am encouraging you to join in the fun and help out with the days activities.

Lift for Life Gym offers St. Louis city children a safe, enriching environment in which to strengthen their bodies, enrich their minds, develop healthy social relationships and learn to make positive life choices.

Here is my tentative agenda for the afternoon:

– WOD/Workout Demo from 1:00 to 1:30 pm.
– CrossFit class from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm
– Potluck Paleo Barbecue from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm

All types of volunteers are needed. Coaches, athletes, cooks, etc. Read the details below to figure out where you want to get involved.

– The WOD demo will be a short workout of any level CrossFit athlete who wants to participate and demonstrate what a workout is like in a real CrossFit gym. I would like the kids to see what it is we do in our environment.

– Then Mike W (CrossFit 26 co-owner), with any additional helpers, will take the teens and coach them through a workout. Standard style warmup, strength/skill and met-con. I will take any younger kids, with any additional helpers, and do the same plus a short game.

– The Potluck Paleo BBQ will take place after the workouts. I will be getting together a bunch of meat from maybe Pappy's or Bandana's. It would be great to have folks bring in some additional Paleo side dishes. I'll briefly talk to the kids the importance of diet and how eating food like this can be a bit healthier. Anywhere from 5-10 side dishes would be great.

Please let me know if you can help out. There is no limit as to how many people we need, the more merrier. I only would like to know sooner rather than later your intentions so I can buy the appropriate amount of meat for all to enjoy.
