With a higher carbohydrate content, these are a great replacement for pasta and rice – especially when first transitioning to a healthier diet. Turning them into noodles with a spiralizer, mash or even fries means you won’t even notice the absence of pasta or white potatoes on your plate.

As well as the popular orange variety, give the white and purple sweet potatoes a try too. I always make sure I avoid the large ones and select the smaller ones, as they’re far more flavoursome.

Whether you roast, boil, fry or steam – there are so many paleo recipe options with the humble sweet potato!

Here are some of my favourite recipes:

If you’re super low-carb, or trying to lose weight, it might be a good idea to give sweet potatoes a miss due to their high carbohydrate content. But otherwise, they’re a great option.

It can get boring having the same dishes all the time – so why not try a few different things with sweet potatoes?

I’d love to hear if you regularly have sweet potatoes and what your favourite thing to do with them is, add your comment below!
