Chicken Processing Day @ Pete and Jen’s Backyard Birds

Whether you want to learn about how local farmers raise and process delicious omega-3-rich pastured chickens, get your hands good and dirty in the company of other paleo-minded folks, or just re-enact Sarah Palin's famous Thanksgiving turkey interview (sorry!), come join us at Pete and Jen's Backyard Birds farm in Concord!

In collaboration with the New England Small Farm Institute, Pete and Jen have spearheaded a pilot program allowing local farmers to take their poultry slaughtering back into their own hands, literally, with a revolutionary mobile processing unit – pics are available at http://peteandjensbac

This is their last volunteer opportunity for the season, and I've heard that they'd like you to commit to at least 4-5 hours, preferably the whole (8-hour) day. Everyone who attends is expected to participate in the slaughtering process, so no spectators – it should be a very educational experience for all involved!

RSVP on their website, and feel free to email me with any questions at [masked]. We'll coordinate rides when we know how many of us are going out there.
